Build a bike course for the homeless
Since November 2009 we have been running our “build a bike” course for St Mungo’s clients. An innovative work based training program for disadvantaged people.
In our first year we trained more than 100 people in basic bicycle mechanics
With the help of the instructors, graduates leave the 4 week course with a completely overhauled bicycle.Students take the bicycle from being in an abandoned state to being a fully functioning machine. Students then can use the bicycles they have built as a healthy way of transport and also have something to show for their achievement.
Basic Bicycle Maintenance – Open to General Public
We believe that riding a bike is all about being independent.
With this course we aim to empower you to be able to look after your own bike.
Bicycle maintenance can be very expensive, with a little know how you begin to take on some tasks yourself and make real savings.
